About Jennifer Coloney

Jennifer HALQUIST (as known to her native Fort Lauderdale friends) Coloney sets the standard for today's businesswoman. Not only is she a real estate broker, she is an investor of real estate,too. During her early years in Fort Lauderdale, Jennifer became a professional ballerina and went into Ballet de Caracas w/director Vicente Nabrada (still known today as Ballet de Caracas International). After having lived in Caracas, Jennifer then joined other international dance venues with other famous choreographers and therefore lived, danced and traveled around the world for many years to such places as Acapulco, Australia, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Mexico City, Aruba, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, the Bahamas, Aruba, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Spain, Majorca, Switzerland, France, England, Scotland, Costa Rica, Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, Puerta Vallarta, Los Angeles and on cruise ships.These experiences helped Jennifer earn her most recent CIPS real estate designation (see below regarding CIPS )

After retiring from her dance career in the mid-1980's, Jennifer returned to her rental apartment in New York City only to be able to then purchase it as her first investment, as a Co-Op. "Oh, the eighties in NYC...buy a Co-op apartment at an insider's price by day, flip immediately for a quick profit . Then off to dancing at Studio 54 disco by night. Was so much fun!", says Jennifer. 

Jennifer then started honing her entrepreneurial skills by joing Herbalife as a sales rep where she then met George Coloney, her now husband (see... www.gocoloney.com ). Together, they founded, U.S. Communications of Westchester, Inc, which became the largest privately held public communications company in America. Then during the 1990's Jennifer and George expanded into the international arena founding the largest privately held telephone company in Puerto Rico, Telefonos Publicos de Puerto Rico, and another telephone company in Toronto, Canada, 1st Canadien Telecom.They sold out three years later in Canada and continued on with managing Telefonos Publicos which recently sold in 2007.

In 1989, Jennifer became associated with Julia B. Fee, Inc, an affluent real estate company in Westchester County, New York. She specialized in luxury homes and townhouses throughout the county. In the late 2000's Julia B. Fee, merged w/Sotheby's International Realty. Until recently, Jennifer still held her real estate license at Sotheby's Int'l Referral Co. In 1998, Jennifer returned to her native roots in South Florida and pursued her real estate brokerage license.

She opened her first real estate office for a short while in 2001 and then joined Wimbish-Riteway Realtors, Inc., the Exclusive Affiliate of SOTHEBY'S International Realty, as a Broker Associate. In 2003, Wimbish-Riteway merged with Coldwell Banker. Jennifer then earned her designations CHMS (Certifed Home Marketing Specialist taught by Martha Webb of Dress Your House for Success), CRS (Council of  Residential Specialists) and GRI (Graduate of Realtor Institute). She also earned while at Coldwell the titles Certified Relocation Specialist, Luxury Home Specialist and Previews International Agent Specialist.

Also having achieved, the Florida Top 100, the Top .01% Worldwide Award from Coldwell Banker in 2003 and 2004 and the Top1% Award at Wimbish-Riteway previous to Coldwell, Jennifer decided it was time to start her own realty office again in 2005, Jennifer Coloney Realty LLC., while George joined ReMax Partners on Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale w/ his eldest son, Scott Coloney (Scott  had been on the Jennifer Coloney P.A. & "The Coloney Group" previous to ReMax. Scott then formed his Coloney Property Management Team and his Foreclosure Response Team (FRT) with his father, George, helping to market both of those ventures). Meanwhile, Jennifer Coloney Realty LLC now has offices in Weston and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. 

Jennifer also most recently earned, in 2008, the CIPS (Certified International Property Specialist ) and the TRC (Transactional Referral Certification)  designations, too, and is a member in good standing with NAR (National Association of Realtors), FAR (Florida Association of Realtors), the Institute for Luxury Home Marketing and a member of  the Florida and National CRS Chapters. She also hopes to achieve getting the Resort Property Specialist, GoGreen and the SRES (Senior Real Estate Specialist) designations, too, in the near future and also attended "Ultimate Pre-Foreclosure & Short Sales" with National Real Estate Seminars in 2007.
